Coding Club

At Moorooduc Primary School, we run Junior and Senior lunchtime Coding Clubs where students from Prep to Year 6 can embark on an exciting journey into the world of programming!

During Coding Club, students are provided with opportunities to:

  • Extend and further develop coding skills through fun and interactive activities such as coding Dash and Beebots to journey through mazes.
  • Create their own animations, games, and digital art projects using programs such as Scratch and Scratch Junior.
  • Develop problem-solving abilities and logical thinking in a supportive environment.

Students work both independently and with mixed-age groups, sharing their knowledge and ideas to work on projects they are passionate about. Coding Club provides a fun and supportive indoor environment where creativity and exploration are at the forefront.

Choir
The Moorooduc School choir was established in 2023 and is run by Teachers and Integration Aides who simply love to sing! It has grown from strength to strength and currently has around 50 members. Students rehearse once a week during lunchtime and especially enjoy the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Every term, the choir showcases the song that they have been learning, in front of the entire school community at the ‘end of term’ assembly. There are opportunities for students to perform in small groups or even audition for solo parts in performances! The choir has established quite a repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs and thoroughly enjoy singing at the school Christmas concert and in a local aged care facility for residents at Christmas time. Their wish being to bring happiness and joy to all those who listen to them. All students are welcome to join the school choir and experience the incredible feeling of singing together in a group, which as research shows, supports both social and emotional wellbeing.

Isea Icare

The award-winning i sea i care program was developed by the Dolphin Research Institute to showcase to Victorians that “what lives around our coast is too precious to lose”. Our surveys highlight Victorians misconceptions about the significance of our unique marine ecosystems and species, when more than 90% of Victorians value the marine ecosystems in other states above their own. This is a critical block to success for everyone who works on coastal and catchment issues.

i sea i care takes a long-term strategic approach. This provides added value to current marine education programs with on-going communications that are relevant and accessible to a much wider audience. i sea i care has a proven track record of developing young leaders by providing real and relevant experiences that enrich the Ambassadors and their school community.

Courage to Care

Courage to care is an Upstander Program that educates about the dangers of racism, antisemitism, discrimination and bystander behaviour.

Delivered by a team of trained and experienced volunteers, the Upstander Programs promote acceptance of diversity, discuss bystander behaviour, and inspire our students to become Upstanders in their own communities. The Upstander course features an inspiring testimony from Holocaust survivors who were saved by the courage of others. This program is run annually in the Grade 5/6 classrooms at Moorooduc Primary School at the beginning of every year.
